One Farm at a Time

For years, Jeff and Annie Main of Good Humus farm have led farm tours for hundreds of excited second graders at their beautiful location in the Capay Valley and they are a familiar fixture at the Davis Farmers Market. But they wondered how they could preserve their farm as a working farm for generations to come. Their One Farm at a Time project would create an easement that would require the land to remain a farm and also be affordable for future generations of farmers. They have been fundraising for years to create the easement, but it will have to weather the test of state agencies and unknown future circumstances. So what can we do to ensure that small, organic farms like Good Humus will always be there to nurture us?
