Recycled Art Faire: Children and adults alike celebrated Earth Day on Sat. April 23rd at the Davis Farmer's Market at the Recycled Art Faire, sponsored by Davis Farm to School and the City of Davis Public Works. Crafts made from recycled objects on display and for sale included C.D. sun catchers, plant pots made from melted records, robot sculptures made from shoe boxes and drink containers, garden plant tags made from mini-blinds, and much more! Waste Busters was also in attendance, with a booth set up where folks could sew a shopping bag made from old clothes, or"Recycle Your Life" and trade unwanted items. All proceeds from the sale of recycled crafts went to support Davis school garden and recycling programs.
Eat a Quesadilla and Support Farm to School! Our valued community partner Dos Coyotes served up asparagus quesadillas this month in support of local food in a healthy school environment. For each quesadilla sold, Dos Coyotes donated $.50 to Davis Farm to School.
Salad and Entree Anyone? The April Cooking Class for Student Nutrition Services focused on delicious salads and main dishes, such as Asian Noodle Salad with Lime Chili Sauce & Carrots and Pork Saute. Click here for all the delicious recipes!
