The Davis Recycling Is Simply Elementary (DavisRISE) program partners with the Davis Joint Unified School District(DJUSD),our local contracted waste removal service, Davis Waste Removal (DWR), the City of Davis and Davis Farm to School (DF2S).

DJUSD custodians, maintenance and operations, and administration work with DF2S to formulate recycling policy at each school site.  DF2S also meets with the district’s Student Nutrition Services to anticipate types of lunch containers and utensils that will be used during school lunches.  DJUSD is the financial supporter of the DavisRISE Program Coordinator and Site Leaders.

Davis Waste Removal sponsored a four-year pilot waste reduction program and supplies waste, recycle and organics carts to all school sites.  They determine what kinds of items are accepted in recycling and organics carts.

The City of Davis Public Works helps DavisRISE align school waste policies with overall City policies and designs standardized signs for the school recycling program.

​

Davis Farm to School initiated the DavisRISE program and now facilitates communication and coordination among the various partners, mainly through the DJUSD-DavisRISE Program Coordinator.  The Coordinator networks with the partner organizations and oversees the programs at each of the school sites.  Each year, DF2S hosts three district-wide meetings to network and to share information among schools.
