

Zinnias and Custodian Luncheon
Dorothy and Carolyn went to the Mezger Zinnia Patch in Yolo to pick flowers for the upcoming Custodian Luncheon. We will drop off some additional bouquets to our retired senior citizen neighbors according to the Patch Rules. Read more at the farmophile blog post and Davis Enterprise story.
Zinnias and white spiders
Zinnia seeds planted at the end of school have added a splash of summer color to the North Davis Elementary gardens. An added surprise has been another crop--of white crab spiders! They lurk in the bright flower petals and grab unsuspecting visitors to the flowers. This spider has caught a native bee for lunch.
UCD students make cookbook
In June, UCD students in the Honors Challenge Program made a final presentation to culminate their volunteer activities with the after school garden club at Patwin Elementary. They made a simple but fun cookbook featuring 7 healthy recipes.
